Halfway Ball Code of Conduct

1. Respect: All participants should treat each other with respect and courtesy, regardless of gender, race, or any other personal characteristics.

2. Alcohol & Drug Use: No alcohol or drugs are allowed on the bus to and from the event; if found in possession of either while on board, individuals may be asked to hand these over and they will be disposed of or confiscated till the end of the event. Additionally, all hotel rooms must remain drug-free during the duration of stay; those found using drugs in their room may face additional disciplinary action by hotel staff.

3. Damages: Any damages caused by an individual’s actions will be their responsibility to pay for upon check-out from the hotel; this includes but is not limited to broken furniture/furnishings due to reckless behaviour as well as excessive cleaning charges needed after an individual’s stay in a room.

4. Behaviour: Reckless and dangerous behaviour such as running through hallways or jumping off balconies is prohibited at all times during one's stay at the hotel; failure to comply can result in eviction from both the ball and hotel premises without a refund for either party involved (ball organizers & accommodation).

5. Professionalism: As medical students, it is important to remember that one's behaviour reflects on the profession as a whole and should be treated with respect; any behaviour deemed inappropriate or unprofessional can result in disciplinary action from both the medical school and General Medical Council (GMC).

6. Illness: In the event of a student falling ill while at the event, they should contact the event organizers immediately. Every effort will be made to accommodate the student, but no refunds can be offered at this time.

7. Have Fun: Finally, remember to relax and have fun! This is a time for celebration and reflection on one's achievements thus far throughout their medical career. Thank you for taking the time to read this code of conduct; we hope everyone has an enjoyable halfway ball!
